A Tale of Duelling Gamers - Take Two!

The second month of the Tale of Duelling Gamers is now well under way, and I've finally managed to get my hands one of the new Wood Elf Treeman kits for this month's purchases.

The kit can make either a Treeman Ancient, a regular Treeman or Durthu (a Special Character Treeman). I spent last night putting it together, using a mix of parts from each in order to come up with a unique model. This uses Durthu's legs and waist, the Ancient's torso and right arm, and the Treeman's left arm, right hand (including Strangleroots) and head combined with the antennae from the Ancient.

Amount Spent: $96 AUD
Number of Figures: 1
Price at Current UK exchange rate: £53.32
GW UK Retail Price: £37
Price Paid: £37

  1. I like the message on the box assuring us that it really only is one miniature. A figure that size and a box that size? I'd just assume one miniature, But then you see the price and think maybe it's just really cleverly packaged and there may be more... Nice of GW to crush all your hopes and dreams with a very large label telling you you've just spent a whole month's allowance on the one figure.

    1. Yep - just one miniature. A nice big one though, if that counts for anything. Maybe it's the brainwashing, but I actually walked out of the store thinking £37 was a reasonable price......

  2. That's an excellent pose, best I've seen so far. Definitely taking inspiration from it when I assemble my kit! Not looking forward to trying to transport it, but I guess that's the price you pay for interesting models

    1. Thanks very much! It was more by accident than design, if I'm honest :D I've not seen many alternate poses being used though - most people seem to be sticking to the "official" poses by and large. It will definitely be a pain to transport, but I'll figure it out! Feel free to get in touch if you want a more detailed rundown of the parts I used!

  3. Great stuff Nick, I find it hard painting GW big kits as I am an ok painter at best and well they need that little bit extra to shine. I am sure this will look fantastic by the end of the month, happy painting.

    1. Thanks Chris, I struggle with the bigger kits myself. I'm not sure how I'm going to tackle this one, but I guess I'll have to figure it out sooner or later!

    1. Thanks mate, I would definitely recommend getting one. I know it's divided opinion, but I think it's a great kit. It will go well with your Treekin and Dryads!
